These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Man With a Van West Ham provides man and van, removal, and related services within the United Kingdom. By booking or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before confirming any booking.

1. Definitions

In these Terms and Conditions, the following expressions have the meanings given below:

Client means the individual, business, or organisation requesting and paying for the services.

Services means man and van, household or office moves, transportation of goods, loading and unloading, and any other related services agreed in writing between the Company and the Client.

Booking means a confirmed request for Services, including the agreed date, time, locations, and price.

2. Scope of Services

The Company provides man and van and removal services primarily in and around West Ham and other areas as agreed with the Client. The scope of work, including pick-up and delivery addresses, approximate load size, vehicle size and number of staff, will be confirmed at the time of booking.

The Services may include packing assistance, loading, transportation, unloading, and positioning of items in the new location, where expressly agreed. Any additional tasks such as furniture disassembly or reassembly, special handling for fragile or bulky items, or extra vehicle trips must be agreed in advance and may incur additional charges.

3. Booking Process

3.1 Enquiries

Clients may submit an enquiry providing details of the proposed move, including dates, property access, approximate inventory, and any special requirements. Based on the information provided, the Company will issue a quotation or estimate.

3.2 Quotations

All quotations are based on the information supplied by the Client and are subject to change if that information is incomplete or inaccurate. Quotations are normally provided on a fixed-fee or hourly-rate basis, as confirmed to the Client. Unless stated otherwise, quotations do not include insurance cover beyond the Companys basic liability, nor do they include storage, packing materials, waste disposal, or special access equipment.

3.3 Confirmation of Booking

A Booking is considered confirmed only when the Client has accepted the quotation and, where required, paid any specified deposit. The Company reserves the right to decline a booking at its discretion, including where the work cannot safely or legally be undertaken.

3.4 Client Responsibilities at Booking Stage

The Client is responsible for providing accurate details of all locations, access conditions, parking restrictions, the type and volume of Goods, and any fragile, high-value, or unusually heavy items. Failure to disclose relevant information may result in additional charges, delays, or cancellation of the Services.

4. Payments and Charges

4.1 Payment Methods

Accepted methods of payment will be advised by the Company at the time of booking. Payment may be required in full in advance, or partly in advance with the balance payable upon completion of the Services, depending on the nature of the job.

4.2 Deposits

The Company may require a deposit to secure a booking. Deposits are generally non-refundable unless the Company cancels the Services or agrees otherwise in writing. The deposit amount and terms will be confirmed to the Client during the booking process.

4.3 Balance Payments

Where a balance is due on completion, payment must be made immediately upon completion of the Services, before the crew leaves the final destination. If the Client is not present, the Company may require full payment in advance or may withhold delivery of the Goods until payment is received.

4.4 Additional Charges

Additional charges may apply where:

Access is more difficult than advised, such as long carrying distances, more flights of stairs, or lack of lift where one was expected.

The volume or weight of Goods exceeds the quotation.

Parking fees, fines, tolls, congestion charges, or other third-party costs are incurred in delivering the Services.

The work takes longer than anticipated under an hourly-rate agreement.

Extra labour, vehicles, or trips are required to complete the move safely.

These additional charges will be payable by the Client and, where possible, will be notified as soon as they arise.

5. Cancellations and Amendments

5.1 Client Cancellations

If the Client wishes to cancel or reschedule a booking, they must notify the Company as soon as possible. Cancellation charges may apply as follows, unless otherwise agreed in writing:

Cancellation more than 7 days before the scheduled date: any deposit may be retained as an administration fee, at the Companys discretion.

Cancellation between 7 days and 48 hours before the scheduled date: up to 50 percent of the quoted price may be charged.

Cancellation within 48 hours of the scheduled date or failure to be available at the agreed time and place: up to 100 percent of the quoted price may be charged.

5.2 Company Cancellations

The Company reserves the right to cancel or postpone Services due to circumstances beyond its control, including but not limited to severe weather, vehicle breakdowns, staff illness, safety concerns, or legal restrictions. In such cases, the Company will seek to reschedule the Services or provide a refund of any amounts paid for the affected booking, as appropriate. The Company will not be liable for any consequential loss arising from cancellation or postponement.

5.3 Amendments

Requests to change the date, time, or scope of Services are subject to availability and may affect the price. The Company will inform the Client of any revised charges before confirming the amendment.

6. Client Responsibilities

The Client agrees to:

Ensure that all Goods are properly packed, secured, and labelled, unless packing services have been expressly agreed.

Be present or represented at the collection and delivery addresses to direct the crew and sign any relevant documentation.

Arrange and pay for suitable parking and, where necessary, any permits or permissions required at both locations.

Ensure that all Goods to be moved are ready and accessible at the agreed time.

Remove or secure any items of high personal or monetary value, such as cash, jewellery, important documents, and similar items, which should not be packed for transport.

The Company reserves the right to refuse to move any item that it reasonably considers unsafe, illegal, or unsuitable for transport.

7. Excluded and Prohibited Items

Unless expressly agreed in writing, the Company will not carry:

Illegal goods, hazardous materials, flammable liquids or gases, explosives, or chemicals.

Live animals, plants requiring special conditions, or perishable foodstuffs.

Valuables such as money, jewellery, watches, precious metals, or important documents.

Any item whose transport would contravene UK law or which the Company reasonably believes to be unsafe.

If such items are packed without disclosure, they are carried entirely at the Clients risk, and the Company accepts no liability for loss, damage, or consequential loss arising from their transport.

8. Liability and Limitations

8.1 Duty of Care

The Company will exercise reasonable care and skill in handling, loading, transporting, and unloading the Goods. However, some risk of damage is inherent in removals, and the Client is advised to arrange appropriate insurance cover for their Goods over and above any limited liability of the Company.

8.2 Basic Liability

The Companys liability for loss of or damage to Goods, arising from its negligence or breach of contract, is limited to a reasonable cost of repair or replacement, up to a maximum amount per job as notified to the Client. The Company is not liable for any loss or damage arising from inherent defects in the Goods, inadequate packing by the Client, normal wear and tear, or circumstances beyond its reasonable control.

8.3 Exclusions of Liability

The Company will not be liable for:

Indirect or consequential losses, including loss of income, profits, or opportunity.

Damage to items that are already fragile, defective, inadequately packed, or not suitable for transport.

Damage to property resulting from the movement of Goods at the Clients request where moving the item carries a foreseeable risk, for example, moving large furniture through tight spaces.

Loss or damage where the Client or their representative has signed to confirm that the Services were completed satisfactorily and did not raise any concern at the time.

8.4 Time Limits for Claims

Any claim for loss or damage must be reported to the Company in writing as soon as reasonably practicable and in any event within 7 days of completion of the Services. The Client must provide reasonable evidence of the loss or damage, such as photographs and purchase receipts where available.

9. Access, Parking and Delays

The Client is responsible for ensuring that adequate access and legal parking are available at both the collection and delivery addresses. Any delay caused by lack of access, waiting for keys, or similar issues may result in additional charges on an hourly basis.

The Company will make reasonable efforts to arrive on time, but the stated arrival time is an estimate only. The Company is not responsible for delays caused by traffic, road closures, accidents, or other events beyond its control, and such delays shall not entitle the Client to a refund or compensation.

10. Waste, Disposal and Environmental Regulations

10.1 Waste Handling

The Company is not a general waste carrier and will not remove domestic or commercial waste unless this has been expressly agreed in advance and can be carried out in accordance with applicable laws. Where waste removal is agreed, the Client confirms that the items are suitable for lawful disposal and that they have the right to dispose of them.

10.2 Compliance with Regulations

Any waste or unwanted items collected by the Company will be disposed of in line with relevant UK waste and environmental regulations. The Company reserves the right to refuse to remove or dispose of any items that it believes may breach these regulations or require specialised handling.

10.3 Charges for Disposal

Fees for waste or item disposal will be agreed in advance wherever possible. Additional charges may apply if disposal costs, such as recycling centre fees or specialist disposal costs, are higher than anticipated due to the nature or quantity of the items.

11. Insurance

The Company maintains appropriate business and vehicle insurance to operate legally as a man and van and removal service provider. This may not cover the full replacement value of the Clients Goods. The Client is strongly advised to arrange their own contents or removals insurance for full protection of their belongings.

12. Complaints

If the Client has any concern or complaint regarding the Services, they should raise it with the crew on the day where possible, and follow up promptly in writing if the matter is not resolved. The Company will investigate the complaint and respond within a reasonable time, seeking a fair and practical resolution where appropriate.

13. Data Protection and Privacy

The Company will collect and use personal information supplied by the Client solely for the purpose of providing quotations, managing bookings, delivering the Services, and handling payments and customer service. Personal data will be handled in accordance with applicable UK data protection laws and will not be sold to third parties.

14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions, and any disputes or claims arising out of or in connection with them or the Services, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

The parties agree that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms and Conditions or their subject matter.

15. Amendments to These Terms

The Company may update or amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time to reflect changes in law, best practice, or the way it operates. The version in force at the time of the Clients booking will apply to that booking. Clients are encouraged to review the Terms and Conditions periodically.
